"If you absolutely can’t wait then original (2G) iPhone owners can update using iTunes if they really need to, but you’ll lose third-party applications that rely on the Jailbreak."
I'm actually going to get a US ID-card and an address since I'm
studying there, so I'm hoping that will be sufficient when buying
one... I read somewhere that you can buy it without the
subscription for around $500/$600, although it will still be locked
to AT&T's net (which I hope the Dev Team can find a solution
for )...

If you only have Jailbreaked your phone ex. (on AT&T) you can update but you will loose 3rd party apps.
If you have Jailbreaked and SIM unlocked DO NOT UPDATE

exactly what I thought... It just sounds like it would be okay to update by the way they write... But I'll wait :)

If you like me have an "old" iPhone 2G Jailbreaked and hacked, if you update it will be sim locked.
Do you have the new or old?

Old. New one is too expensive, and can't be unlocked yet. (maybe I'll buy one in US, though)

Do it if you can find someone to buy it for you with US address etc. Or maybe wait till AT&T sells them without subscription..
